Welcome

Thank you for visiting the Friends of the Tenley-Friendship Library website.

As many of you know, the Tenley Friends group has been a steadfast supporter of library services in Washington, D.C. Although our geographic focus is on our local library Branch, the Friends advocate for better library services throughout the City of Washington, D.C.

We assist the Tenley-Friendship Branch, and the D.C. Library system more broadly, by giving financial support to a variety of programs, including great programs for teens and children. The Tenley Friends also offer a variety of programs during the year.

We note in particular our very successful Author Talks. We are excited to resume the in-person talks beginning in early 2023 and encourage you to visit the Author Talks page for additional information.

Our “flagship” work is our ongoing sale of used books and media from our cart and from the “Friends Room,” both located on the second floor of the Branch. Please come by and browse – and purchase – the many fine items we offer. The more you buy, the more money becomes available to support the Tenley library!

NOTE: We also periodically accept book, CD, and DVD donations. Please consult our donations page for our policies and schedule for donations.

We thank our members throughout the area for their consistent support of the Friends. If you are not a member, we recommend that you join now. Our website enables you to join online. Please note that membership dues and other contributions are completely tax deductible because we are a 501 c (3) non-profit organization.

Finally, we welcome suggestions on how to improve our work. We also welcome volunteers – whatever your time, talent, or interest – to assist us. This includes assistance with book donations and sales.

Our library is a community resource from which we all benefit. We hope you will visit the library frequently and participate in its activities.

Thank you again for your support.
