Capitol View Library Resolution

FRIENDS OF TENLEY-FRIENDSHIP LIBRARY RESOLUTION REGARDING CAPITOL VIEW LIBRARY

WHEREAS Friends of Tenley-Friendship Library and SE-NE Friends of Capitol View Library are both DCPL Friends groups serving neighborhood branch public libraries as well as the District of Columbia Public Library (DCPL) system as a whole;

WHEREAS Friends of Tenley-Friendship Library wishes to support SE-NE Friends of Capitol View Library’s advocacy for their neighborhood library;

WHEREAS DCPL has recently reopened the Capitol View Library, following interior renovations allowing library services until the library is closed again this spring for completion of exterior renovations;

WHEREAS DCPL has promised SE-NE Friends of Capitol View Library completion by spring 2018 of the library’s long overdue exterior renovation, including installation of large street-facing windows and remediation of pooling water at the Library’s frontage at 5001 Central Avenue SE; and

WHEREAS DCPL has promised SE-NE Friends of Capitol View Library that interim library services will be provided on the grounds of J. C. Nalle Elementary School, 219 50th St. SE throughout the re-closure of the Capitol View Library during the forthcoming exterior renovation;

Be it therefore resolved that:

Friends of Tenley-Friendship Library, to express support of SE-NE Friends of Capitol View Library, commends DCPL in pressing forward on the following accomplishments and undertakings at Capitol View Library:

· Reopening to the public following interior renovations that include improved new Children & Teens space, Computer Lab, and study & meeting rooms;

· Completing in spring 2018 the exterior renovation, including installation of large street-facing windows and remediation of pooling water at the Library’s frontage at 5001 Central Avenue SE;

and

· Providing interim library services on the grounds of J.C. Nalle Elementary School, 219 50th St. SE throughout the re-closure of the Library during the forthcoming exterior renovation.
