The sale of used books is a major source of income for the Friends.
The Friends Book Cart, located on the second floor of the Library, is the core of our used book sales program. The Cart generally has a large selection of children’s books and fiction, with seasonal and topical themes that change frequently. The Cart is restocked two or three times a week.
The Friends Room is lined with bookshelves and is open several afternoons a week for the sale of used books that are not on the Friends Book Cart. In the Friends Room, you will find a wall of fiction and shelves for History, Art, Religion, Philosophy, Travel, Biographies, Memoirs and more.
The Friends Room is open for the sale of books each Saturday from 1:30 – 4:30pm.
Occasionally, the Friends will have a major book sale, when all used books in our collection will be offered for sale. Other mini sales occur seasonally, such as during Tenley Winterfest. Often these are held in the Tenley Library’s lobby or first floor.
All proceeds are used to support library programs at the Tenley-Friendship branch library, DCPL or community programs that support reading.
